15 MINUTE HIIT WORKOUT

Monday, June 24, 2019

Happy Monday y'all!

It's been such a gloomy day in Texas! I'm currently sitting in the car while Julian takes a quick nap, its almost 4pm so looks like this mama is staying up late. Also can y'all believe my baby turned FOUR! I don't understand why time won't slow down (cue the tears).

In the last couple of days, a couple of my followers asked me how I got to this point after having him, fitness wise. And honestly its hard. It wasn't until Jan 2018 that I finally put my big girl panties on and started. Julian was born in 2015 so it only took my 3 years to finally start haha BUT don't give up. I PROMISE you that HARDEST part is STARTING!

Also I'm a stay at home mom, so I needed to find workouts that wouldn't take me more than an hour to complete, because dinner, laundry, cleaning, oh and of course giving your kid attention, doesn't stop. I personally don't think you need a gym to be "fit" or to exercise. All my workouts are done at home, under an hour. We're all in different paths, so I also don't have 2 hours to spend at the gym so when I do my workouts I make sure I push myself. If I can do it you can too girlfriend!

Another thing that helped me a ton was having Julian on a routine. Nothing crazy but knowing he'd wake up at about 7:30-8:30, gives me time to schedule my workouts, and just me time. I'm all about routines.

So with that, today I'm sharing a 15 minute HIIT workout! If you don't have 15 minutes just do 10! Some sweat is better than no sweat right? haha. I always do about 10 minutes of cardio before my workouts just to get me pumped.

I love doing HIIT workouts because they definitely make you break a sweat!

I hope y'all enjoy! And if y'all give this workout a go, let me know how you did! Also comment below with any other fitness posts you 'd like to see? Or any other workout posts?

COFFEE TALK: WORTHLESS?

Wednesday, June 19, 2019

Happy Wednesday!

It has been a while since I've done a COFFEE TALK post! One of the many reasons I started my blog is because I wanted a place to share my thoughts, or how I was feeling, I guess you can say I wanted this to be some sort of diary for me.

I'm struggling to find a title for this post because there is a lot that I want to talk about but most of it revolves around the word "WORTHLESS". If I told you guys how many times that word has been thrown at me, y'all would think I was kidding...but unfortunately I'm not kidding.

I remember being called "worthless" at the age of 16, I was trying to figure out life, figuring out who I am, etc. When this person first called me worthless, I made up excuses for them. Telling myself, "well you shouldn't have said that" , "it's your fault", "he's absolutely right", "you should've just kept your mouth shut", and so many more things. I was in this environment for a couple of years and "worthless" was constantly thrown at me. Again I not once told myself, "hey you are not worthless, snap out of it"

I always wondered what made a person call another such an awful & hurtful word. Like what makes you want to call another human being "worthless". Does it make you feel worth more? Does it make you feel powerful?

I'm 25 now, and depression is something that I silently fight through everyday. I've come to realize that a HUGE trigger is being called "worthless".  When that word is directed at me, it puts me in a dark place. It takes me to the 18 year old me, who finally decided to leave that toxic environment, it takes me back to the days I would cry in my small blue room, to the days I felt helpless and alone, to the days I didn't think I'd ever see the light at the end of the tunnel, to the days I felt worthless.

It took a lot to finally look in the mirror and not feel worthless, it took a lot to realize that I am worth so much. It takes a lot of strength to get YOURSELF out of those dark places. Those dark feelings that feel like are never going to go away.

If today you are feeling worthless, know that you are NOT! You are worth so much, your life is worth everything. Know that you are loved, know that if you ever feel alone I am only a message away.

Worthless, is an ugly and hurtful word. It can hurt a person more than you can imagine.

Pray, I promise you he listens. He was there when I wanted to end it all, he was there when I lost all hope. Pray to him.

He is the reason I am here today, he knows I am worth so much, he did give his life for me. That alone is just mind blowing to me.

5 "BABY" STEPS TO START YOUR FITNESS/HEALTH JOURNEY

Monday, June 17, 2019

Happy Monday!

We actually had a fun filled weekend! We went out 2 nights in a row and well needless to say, this mama is exhausted! Let me just tell you drinking in your mid 20's is not the same, and the recovery takes waay longer. haha In case you guys didn't know this, I am a total light weight! I just need two margaritas and girlfriend, I am all set! Anyone else?

But we are going to kick this week off with 5 "baby" steps to take to start your fitness/health journey! You guys know I'm all about baby steps, and I'm constantly telling y'all how important it is to start slow & steady. That's how I started and I stand 100% by this "method".

Please feel free to leave me a comment with any questions you may have! I will do my best to answer with whatever knowledge I may have on it. If you scroll down to the bottom of this blog post, you just type your comment in the little box and then it'll ask you to enter your email address. I DO NOT use your information for anything else JUST to reply to you.

5 "BABY" STEP TO TAKE TO START YOUR
 FITNESS/HEALTH JOURNEY!

1.) WRITE DOWN YOUR GOAL: Whether that be losing weight, toning up, or gaining weight, write it down. Also write down why you're doing it. Because you want to feel more confident, you want to have more energy, etc! I suggest maybe buying a notebook where you can write all your FITNESS & HEALTH things in.

2.) START EXERCISING 3 DAYS A WEEK- Okay again, I'm all about slow & steady! So start off by working out 3 days a week. Your workouts don't have to be anything intense or crazy...yet. If you have never worked out maybe tone it down and start off 2 days a week. Make sure you listen to your body.

3.) CREATE YOUR WORKOUT SCHEDULE- This is KEY! There are some weeks that I don't plan out my workout schedule and I feel the motivation go downhill real quick! I started off by doing a 5-10 minute run 3 days a week for about 2 weeks and then I started adding workouts. I highly recommend NOT skipping Monday's. For me personally if I skip Monday I just don't feel as productive. Also make sure you're scheduling your workout at a time that works BEST for you. Also take in mind, sleep will be sacrificed! haha You can check out my current workout schedule HERE

4.) SUBSTITUTE WHERE YOU CAN- Another key step! You don't want to throw yourself into your journey and start by eating salads every day all day! Chances are you're going to give up real quick. I say this all the time...but slowly transition into healthier options. I'll give you guys a few examples. Starting off old school, choose grilled over fried, skip out on the fries, if you're a soda drinker maybe start drinking diet soda, portion your food, try veggie pasta instead of regular pasta, ground turkey instead of regular ground beef, make sure you always include a side of veggies. I feel like I could do a WHOLE post of substitution so I may start working on that. But you get the point.

5.) DRINK YOUR WATER- I know, I know! You hear it all the time but it's true! Water is so good for you! I also know a ton of you don't like water, so maybe add some of your favorite fruit to make it taste a little better! Before I started my journey I honestly maybe had 1 bottle of water a day,  if that! Now I drink about 8-10 bottles a day, y'all know I love my lemon & strawberry water so I mix it up sometimes.

WHAT'S IN MY AMAZON CART

Wednesday, June 12, 2019

Hello friends!

Happy Wednesday! I decided to add another day to my blogging schedule! I couldn't decide between Wednesday or Sunday and I asked you guys and well Wednesday's work out best for all of us! So you'll be hearing from me 3 days a week now! Whoop whoop!

Okay so I wasn't much of an Amazon person until I started my blog (June 25) and realized all the goodness that there is on there! haha I would occasionally browse the sight and was just eh about it. BUT GIRLFRIEND! It has become an obsession now!

I wanted to share a WHAT'S IN MY AMAZON CART because y'all know this mama is on a budget and I buy most things one or two at a time. I thought this would be a good idea so if you guys see anything you like you can go ahead and purchase. At the end of the month I also plan on doing a roundup of my favorite Amazon finds! If you guys want to purchase through my links (THANK YOU) just click on the name of the product which most likely will be in bold and shop away!

There's a a little bit of everything and when I purchase from Amazon, I ALWAYS read the reviews and check to see the rating!

LEOPARD PRINT T SHIRT - You guys know I'm a leopard girl through and through! So I immediately added this cute t shirt to my cart!  And best part it's under $20!

SCOOP NECK BODYSUIT - I wasn't into bodysuits and then one day I bought one and BAM! I'm obsessed! This one is $15 and comes in a ton of colors! These are another great staple piece because you can wear them all year round, and get so much use out of them.

HOUSE SLIPPERS- If you guys have been following me you know that I've been stung by scorpions like THREE dang times!!! I wear sandals around the house but they are not the comfiest so I saw these cuties and knew they'd be my next purchase!

CLEAR PLASTIC ORGANIZERS - My vanity is a mess so these are definitely a necessity! I stopped by Target and it just made more sense to get this 6 piece set for $15 than the ones at Target which were like $7 a piece.

PERFECT PEACH RESISTANCE BANDS - These have great reviews! And you get 5 resistance bands for $15. WINNING!!

VITAMIN E OIL - I've been using this oil for 2 months now and it has done wonders for my skin! I recently ran out and started using my Ponds moisturizer and my skin quickly broke out! I highly recommend this!

MESH SCREEN DOOR- Another necessity! This will for sure be my next purchase. Julian LOVES to play outdoors and I want to leave the door open so I can run out to his rescue in case he comes face to face with a freaking snake (we've seen like 5 in just a couple of weeks)! But I need to keep the flies out as well, I saw Casey Holmes talk about this a few months ago so I thought I'd give it a try.

KIDS GARDEN TOOL SET - Julian also loves to help out when we're outside so I want to get him this little set that he can use. I think these set is only about $15!

I hope y'all enjoyed this post! Thank you so much for stopping by and for continuing to support my blog!

SUMMER AB WORKOUT

Monday, June 10, 2019

Happy Monday friends!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

I took Julian to the library this morning and he enjoyed himself soo much! And I love the love he has for books. I use to be such a bookworm, and could read a book in a couple of days but now it takes me at least a month! So crazy how things change!

-
-

My workout schedule has been pretty consistent for the last month or so. Monday's are my ab days and I wanted to share this workout with y'all because it's so easy but your abs will be on fire! I do each exercise for 40 seconds each and with exercises 3 & 4 I do 20 seconds on each side for a total of 40 seconds. Make sure your tightening up your core and you know, slow and steady!

Take in mind I am not an expert so if my form is incorrect feel free to let me know, like always you guys know that constructive criticism is welcome here!

If you are a beginner you can start by doing each exercise for 30 seconds and eventually increase your time. Or if your on a tight schedule just lower the time.

** On exercise 3-LEG HOLD- hold for at least 5 seconds and then alternate.

I hope y'all enjoy this post and if you give this workout a go, let me know how you did!

Thank you so much for continuing to support my blog it means the world to me!

Disclaimer: I am NOT a personal trainer nor a health nutritionist, everything I am sharing is from PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. If you attempt this workout please do it at your own pace. What works for me may not work for you.

Okay so now to the fun stuff....outfits!

I have links to the pieces under each photo (beside outfit details), a few of them are only in store for now.

Outfit #1: This lace sleeved tee is SO soft! I was torn between this one and the one on outfit #3! These denim shorts were a bit too big on me! But still so cute. Paper bag shorts have a been a huge hit this season!

Oufit #2: I wish I would've bought this bodysuit because there are so many ways to style it! And it would've been perfect for Fall too! Another pair of shorts! These come in a couple of other colors!

Outfit #3: The lace kimono & tee are not online but if you go in store try them on! They feel & fit so good! The t shirt came home with me because y'all know I love a good basic! Okay now this skirt is a MUST! It fits like a glove! The one pictured is white of course, but I bought it in black because well, I'm a mom! haha

Oufit #4: Who doesn't love pom pom anything! Another in store find but so dang cute!

Outfit #5: This black tank also came home with me! I feel like it makes me look somewhat Texan haha and again another basic & comfy piece!

Outfit #6: Okay this romper is soo precious!!! Do size up though! I went with a small and I was like "Katie it doesn't fit" but she informed me that it runs small!haha Phew, I thought I was having too much pizza! lol

Outfit #7: Saving the BEST for last! Y'all know I'm a leopard type of gal and of course this came home with me! This black dress is also such a great basic piece!

Happy Friday!

Hello friends! I hope y'all had a wonderful week!

We spent the day running errands, and now we're just relaxing watching some movies! I think we're taking Julian to watch Avengers Endgame on Monday and I don't know how he's going to react when he sees the end! I don't want to spoil it for anyone so I'm not going into details.

For today's post I wanted to share with y'all the best sellers! These are pieces you guys have purchased through my links (thank you) in the past couple of months! I can't thank you guys enough for continuing to support my blog & well my dream!

AMAZON PINK SHIFT DRESS- You all loved this dress! I don't blame ya! I listed this one as another option for the one I'm wearing. Mine is quite a few years old but I wear it all the time! THIS sleeveless option was another great find!

TARGET MOM SHORTS- These have great reviews online! They have been purchased quite a few times! They're only $15, and they have a great fit! They're a true denim so I would either stick to your true size or size up. Also they're longer in the back so they got you covered!

TARGET TANK- One of my personal favorites! I have it in light blue & black! It's such a great basic piece, long enough for leggings, and so dang soft! Oh and only $8!

FITNESS UPDATE-MAY 2019 + HOW I STAY MOTIVATED

Tuesday, May 28, 2019

Happy Tuesday!

Hello friends! I hope y'all had a great Memorial Day!

Okay so this post is going to be pretty long so make sure you grab a snack! Today I'm going to be sharing some fitness and health updates! And well just chatting a bit with you guys!

I started my Health & Fitness journey January 2018, so it's been over a year. Prior to this I didn't feel my best, I was VERY anti social! I didn't want to hang out with people or meet new people because I was so self conscious of my body and just everything! Looking back, I was in a bad mood ALL the time. All of this, plus more, had to do with me not being comfortable in my skin. After I had Julian I just let myself go, I stopped doing all the things I love because I was in the mindset that I'm a mom so Julian has to come first. And although that is true, at some point you have to put yourself first. You know that quote that says "you can't pour from an empty cup" , yeah that was me.

Eventually I got my ducks in a row and finally started taking care of MYSELF again. It's so important as a mom to do just that.

January 2018 came along and I decided that the time is now, either I'm going to work on myself or keep feeling sorry for myself and whine and complain. I took things slow and started off by running for about 5-10 mins and doing a 10 min workout. I did that for a couple of weeks and once I was getting the hang of things I increased my running time and also my workouts.

I was SOO motivated the first 3 months, working out 5-6 days a week and running 4-5 times a week, making healthier choices, I noticed a HUGE change in my body and my mental health!

May 2018- We ended up taking a trip to North Carolina, Julian and I ended up staying with my parents for 2 months. And I kinda went downhill from there. I was stress eating, happy eating, all sorts of eating! Don't get me wrong I'm all about "treat days" but I was treating myself every day. I was working out but you know how it goes, abs are made in the kitchen. So from than up until January 2019 I was half a**ing my workouts. I wasn't putting much effort and I was eating somewhat healthy.

January-March 2019- I honestly lost motivation! I just didn't want to workout, I wanted to eat whatever I wanted, part of me kept telling myself "just treat yourself, you deserve it", I told myself that everyday lol So for these two months I just kinda did what I wanted. I had little to no self control.

April 2019-present! Okay so here we are May 28!

For the past month I have been in such a great place, as far as fitness goes! I knew I had started the year off wrong, unmotivated and just NEEDED to get back on track & get a hold of my life again.

So how did I motivate myself? Well I told myself, "if you don't give up, imagine where you can be in a year"? So I want you to take a second right now, in this moment, stop what you're doing, and think about it. No matter if it's a fitness, health, career goal, just ask yourself.."if I don't give up right now, because I REALLY want too, where will I be in a year"?. And I think we can all agree that a year flies by! Chances are, that you envisioned achieving your goals, living your best life, having more confidence than you do right now, and THANKING yourself for not giving up. And trust me, I know what it feels like to give up on your fitness & health goals, you're kinda like, well I screwed up and cheated today, so I'll just start next month, that leads to next year, and well you know the rest.

-
-
We ARE NOT GETTING ANY YOUNGER! Age really is just a number, how you take care of your mind, body and soul reflects on how you "age", does that make sense? If it doesn't what I'm trying to say is you can either treat your self like crap or you can age like Jennifer Lopez, and I don't know about you but i'll take option two. I'm 25 years old, and quite truthfully I physically feel my best now! The more you tell yourself "i'll start tomorrow", the harder it's going to get to actually start.

-
-
Something that I have incorporated recently is that I have started to track my macros (fat, carb, proteins) now please take in mind, I am NOT an expert, I kinda don't know what the heck I'm doing but I'm LEARNING as I go. I currently intake about 1500 calories. Like I said earlier I am doing Intermittent Fasting, which I will talk more about it in another post, I get all my carbs, protein, & fats in, I don't go to sleep hungry & I don't wake up starving. It has truly been so good for me! Oh I wanted to mention that I'm using the MyFitnessPal app to track my food!

I get asked quite frequently, what I eat to stay fit without eating salads all the time. First of all I don't know if I'd consider myself "fit" just yet lol BUT one thing I have learned throughout this journey is that it's ALL ABOUT BALANCE! I mentioned in my IG stories last week, on how I was going to have pasta, like the real deal pasta, and how it's been months since I've had it. I have been content with zucchini noodles or sometimes I'd have BirdsEye Vegetable Pasta (soo good) that I didn't really crave "real" pasta. But on this specific day I just felt like having the real deal lol and I had a bowl! Of course everything in moderation.

I still eat tortillas here and there, I eat bread (we love carbs around here), I cook & eat healthy foods that I know I'll love! You don't want to force yourself to eat healthy foods that you just don't like because chances are you're going to give up easily! I have a board on my PINTEREST, you can follow me HERE, where I pin yummy & health-ish foods! I love salads, and at some point I was eating them all the time thinking that I would achieve my fitness goals that way, but I have learned that it won't haha.

-
-

Okay so I feel like this post is all over the place but hopefully you'll stick around lol

So I asked  you guys on IG if you had any questions so I'll be answering those below...

What is your workout schedule?
-Currently: Monday 10 Min cardio + abs
Tuesday 20 min run + arms
Wednesday 10 min cardio +abs *some arms*
Thursday 20 min run + lower body ****sometimes I take this day as a rest day**
Friday 10 min cardio + full body
Sunday 3+ mile run

How do you plan your fitness routine? Any recs of a fitness plan?
-I've been content with my current workout schedule but just plan your workouts according to you. Like if you're busiest day is Monday, you might not want to do a 20 min run AND a workout, so maybe you'll do a 10 min cardio + x workout. Or if taking Monday as your rest day than do that. As for as deciding what I'm going to "workout", at this current moment I am content with my lower body, so my main focus is my upper body. As you can see, I do genuinely LOVE cardio & running, so if that's not something you like just switch it up. But you can see that I do ab workouts 3 times a week, arms also 3 times a week & lower body just *sometimes* twice a week. I feel like looking at this you think that I workout a lot but my workouts are usually 15-20 mins. // As far as a fitness plan the only one I've tried & loved is from Alexa Jean Fitness, I don't think she sells it anymore but you can check out her IG. I have tried Kayla Itsines but the app was just tooo dang confusing for me.

I want to start working out in the mornings, do I eat breakfast before or after?
-Okay just to make it clear I AM NOT an expert, BUT this is a good question because if you've been following my journey you know that when I started I was working out in the afternoons during Julians nap time. It worked best for me to workout at that time, and I did try a couple of times to workout in the mornings on an empty stomach but I felt awful after! Fast forward a year into my journey and I do my workout bright and early! I think it's all about how your body responds to it! Give it a try! Like I said in the beginning I couldn't do it without getting sick but now I HAVE to get it done bright & early and I feel perfectly fine!

How do you manage to get a workout in with a toddler?
-It took some time girlfriend! Just find a good routine that works best for both of you! Also don't feel like you HAVE to go to a gym or HAVE to do 2 hour workouts to see results, because you DON'T! All my workouts are done at home & under 45 minutes! Most of the time I can wake up an hour before Julian wakes up and get my workout AND a quick shower in! #winning

-

Just to wrap things up I wanted to mention a few more things! I am a stay at home mom so although I don't have to go into an office, I do create a routine for myself. I do think that if I had a 9-5 job I would still find 30-45 minutes to get my workout in. Like I said wake up early or once you get home and just do a quick workout!

I sound like a broken record but STARTING IS THE HARDEST PART! Start of slow, baby steps, and you'll get to where you want to be.

We are all different just because I personally don't like the gym I am not saying it's bad lol millions of people love going to the gym, maybe i'll get into it in the future but for now I love my home workouts.

Eating healthy plays a HUGE role! You can workout all day every day but if you're eating fast food every single day, you probably won't see results.

I love to run, you don't have to do cardio before every single workout but to me, it's kinda like my pre workout lol It gets my hyped up!

So that concludes my fitness update! I hope y'all enjoyed and stayed till the end! If you did THANK YOU! There are certain topics that I want to talk about individually so i'll be working on those posts soon! And AGAIN please know that I am NOT an expert! Everything I'm sharing is from experience and learning as I go! Constructive criticism is always welcomed around here!

Thank you so much for continuing to support my blog! It means the world to me!
